Feeling Hot Hot HOT!!

As I type this, we are still earthquake free for today. I am holding my breath that it stays that way. Speaking of breath, these temps will take it away. I got an alert on my phone that the air quality is low, but I think that is just the standard for this part of the state to be honest. I do know that the high temps here, while HOT, still do not feel as hot as the heat indexes at home.  You know, the “feels like temp.” Take this photo as an example.  It is 104, and it feels every bit of 104. At home, however, we can have an actual temp of 95, but it will “feel like” 104. This 104 here is accompanied by a nice breeze. No such breezes at home. Hot is hot, and it is too hot here, but the “feels like” is still not as bad.

For lunch today, we ate at In and Out Burger. I have been to only one other, and that was in Texas. I like it, but people here are as obsessed with this place as people at home are obsessed with Chick Fil A. We stopped at a Chick Fil A in Grand Junction the other day, and there was no line! How is that even possible?!?! They just don’t know. At In and Out, you literally have to stalk tables. I had my eye on one for several minutes, but just when I was about to head that way, this woman appeared out of nowhere and swooped in Ninja style. She plopped that purse down as if she had just won the gold. We finally found a table inside, and while Anthony was on the fence about the burgers, Kira and I joined the fan club. It is just a very good burger.

After taking naps and pool time for Kira, we headed to the resort restaurant and had a delicious meal. Anthony and Kira had steaks that I was instantly jealous of, and I had scallops with veggies over rice pilaf that lessened my jealousy of their meals because it was delicious. Kira and I shared a Caesar Salad complete with anchovies on the side, which means they sat in their little dish far away from us.

Here are some more photos of our lovely resort. The Marriott people are top notch and even sent over a gift to celebrate Kira’s recent college graduation.

After dinner, we drove to Palm Springs to find the Hawaiian Ice Cream shop called Lapperts.  It was busy but the ice cream was wonderful.  We also bought ten dollar items of clothing that I might not have bought anywhere else, but it was Palm Springs so.......There were tons of people walking the main street, but I didn't see any famous people, that are still alive that is.  We ran into this icon on our way in.  I am not sure I would recognize a famous person if I did see them, and I am pretty positive that if they walked too slow in front of me, or too close behind me, I would be as annoyed at them as I am with the common folk.

We are back at the resort and the day is almost over.  I have not felt the earth move today, and am really thankful for that.  The people of Ridgecrest continue to need prayers, and my personal prayer is that they all get some much needed rest.
